Copernicus - Core Datasets

The CORE Datasets are typically pre-defined large datasets, covering the needs of the Copernicus services and other activities requesting Earth Observation data, like Union financed research projects and the activities of Union agencies (EEA, EMSA, SatCen, etc.). CORE datasets are characterised by fixed tasking, systematic or not, data processing and delivery timeliness parameters defined a priori.
  • European optical MR1 composites (MR_IMAGE_2015)
  • VHR1-2 Urban Atlas 2012
  • SAR HR2/MR1 Worldwide coverage (HR2-MR1_SAR_GLOBAL)
  • Sea Ice Monitoring HR1/MR2 SAR (SAR_SEA_ICE)
  • Optical HR Pan Europe coverage (HR_IMAGE_2015)

EMODnet

Bathymetry is developing and providing a harmonised Digital Terrain Model (DTM) for the European sea regions. The EMODnet-Bathymetry portal is being developed in the framework of the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) as initiated by the European Commission
  • Bathymetric survey data
  • Composite DTMs
  • A harmonised EMODnet Digital Terrain Model (DTM) for European sea regions

Hyperspectral images of minnow fishes

We acquired hyperspectral Images of minnow fishes with the objective of investigating if freshness of the fish can be estimated using hyperspectral imaging.

For the dataset:

  • Three fishes were obtained and imaged on 8/6. Afterwards they were stored in the deep freeze
  • One fish was defrosted and imaged on 9/6. The fishes were subsequently stored in normal cooling conditions
  • The two other fishes will be imaged on two additional days.

Observations:

For each fish, a hyperspectral image of 25 bands was acquired in the wavelength 680-970nm

Then five pixels, corresponding to different regions of the fish, were selected and the corresponding spectral profile for each pixel was extracted.

The extracted spectral profiles were stored as plots and in csv files

You download the dataset from here.

Fish growing life-cycle prodcution Dataset

Production data provides sampling measurements of crucial production KPIs indicators during the fish growing life-cycle. You download the dataset from here.

The dataset contains the following attributes:

  • Company – the name of the aquaculture company
  • Site – the name of the region where the cages are located
  • Latitude, Longitude – the geographical location of the site
  • Species – name of fish species
  • Start_Date, End_Date: the dates of the period between two successive samplings
  • StartAvgWeight, EndAvgWeight: the fish average weight at the begin and the end of the sampling period
  • StartFishNo, EndFishNo: the number of fish in the cage at the begin and the end of the sampling period
  • AvgTemperature: average sea temperature over the sampling period
  • Biol_FCR: Biological Feed Conversion Rate, which is calculated from the number of kilograms of feed used to produce one kilogram of fish, measured at the end of the sampling period
  • MortalityRate: ratio of dead fishes at the end of the sampling period
  • SFR: Suggested Feed Ratio, which indicates the quantity of feed given to the fishes over the period, measured at the end of the sampling period
  • SGR: Specific Growth Rate, which indicates the growth of the fish in a particular period, measured at the end of the sampling period

Natura2000

Natura 2000 is the key instrument to protect biodiversity in the European Union. It is an ecological network of protected areas, set up to ensure the survival of Europes most valuable species and habitats.
  • European Data
  • GIS Data

WDPA

The World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA) is the most comprehensive global spatial dataset on terrestrial and marine protected areas. Protected areas are internationally recognised as major tools in conserving species and ecosystems, and up to date information on protected areas is essential to fully enable conservation and development activities.

Seabed morphology

EMODNET Seabed Habitat

EMODnet broad-scale seabed habitat map for Europe (EUSeaMap) including classified habitat descriptors and confidence can be accessed through OGC Services. Its type can be specified as ESRI File Geodatabase and SpatiaLite database* (broad-scale habitat map including classified habitat descriptors) and TIFF (confidence assessment).

LifeWatch Greece Dataset

LifeWatch Greece portal provides the means that allow users publish, exploit, discover their biodiversity datasets through the Data Services that are provided by the LifeWatchGreece portal. The datasets that have been imported so far contain time-dependent information (e.g. occurrence of marine species). The data have been imported from the Greek biodiversity community and are exposed through the LifeWatch Greece Data Services Facilities.

LOCODES

LOCODES is the United Nations Code for Trade and Transport Locations.

MFA

JRC's Mapping Fishing Activities (MFA) can be described as Raster and polygon data of fishing activity and can be accessed on request.

EMODNET Human Activities

The user can search EMODNET Human Activities download GIS files and link to web services. (http://www.emodnet-humanactivities.eu/search.php)

Hyperspectral imaging fish

Hyperspectral imaging fish dataset contains hyperspectral images for of minnow fishes with the objective of investigating if freshness of the fish can be estimated using hyperspectral imaging.
